The Tank — Maintenance & Care Routine

Your Lone Peak Tank is a 10-gallon rotomolded water system designed to deliver reliable, on-demand flow wherever your adventure takes you. With proper care, the built-in 1.2 GPM pump will perform quietly and consistently for years.

Below you’ll find a simple maintenance routine to keep your Tank clean, efficient, and ready to go whenever you are.

Regular Maintenance (Every Few Trips or Monthly Use)

  1. Clean the Strainer & Nozzle

    • The built-in 1.2 GPM electric pump uses a small 40-mesh strainer to protect against debris.

    • Remove and rinse the strainer periodically to maintain consistent pressure.

    • If flow decreases, check both the strainer and nozzle for buildup or kinks in the hose.

  2. Inspect Hoses & Fittings

    • Verify that all quick-release fittings, guides, and shutoff valves are secure and free from leaks.

    • Check the flexible hose and tailgate mount for cracks, wear, or stiffness — replace as needed.

    • Ensure the power cable and ring terminals are tight and corrosion-free.

  3. Electrical Check

    • Confirm that the Tank’s power cable is connected securely to your JuiceBox or 12V battery source.

    • Make sure the built-in power switch operates correctly and cuts power when the tank is empty.

  4. General Cleaning

    • Wipe the tank exterior with mild soap and water — avoid harsh solvents.

    • Use the wide-mouth opening to rinse and clean the interior after trips, especially if water has sat unused.

    • The Tank is non-potable — do not drink or cook with water stored inside.

Seasonal Sanitizing (Every 3–6 Months)

  • Before long-term storage or after sitting unused, flush the tank and hose system with a mild sanitizing solution (e.g., 1/4 cup household bleach per 5 gallons of water).

  • Circulate the solution through the pump and nozzle, let sit for 15–30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water until the bleach smell is gone.

  • Regular sanitizing prevents mineral buildup and extends pump life.

Winterizing (Before Freezing Conditions)

  1. Drain all water from the Tank using the hose and nozzle until empty.

  2. Disconnect the hose and let the pump run briefly (a few seconds) to clear remaining water, then shut off power.

  3. Remove the inlet/outlet hoses if possible to fully drain the pump.

  4. Leave the wide-mouth cap open to allow airflow and prevent condensation.

  5. Store the Tank indoors or in a temperature-controlled area.

  6. For harsh winter climates, you may pour a small amount of RV-safe non-toxic antifreeze into the lines (never inside the pump or rotomold container directly).

Tips for Best Performance

  • The pump is intermittent-duty — allow short rest periods during continuous use.

  • Avoid using the Tank for filtration or high-pressure systems like reverse osmosis.

  • Keep voltage within ±10% of 12V for consistent performance.

  • Prevent backpressure by avoiding tight bends or small-diameter hoses.

  • Mount securely to minimize vibration and noise.

Quick Reference

Task Frequency What to Check
Clean strainer Monthly Remove debris and flush screen
Inspect hoses & fittings Monthly Look for leaks, cracks, or kinks
Sanitize system Every 3–6 months Flush with diluted bleach and rinse
Drain for storage Before winter Empty tank, hoses, and pump
Electrical check As needed Secure power leads, confirm switch cuts power when empty
